Temple University professors Heather LaMarre and Gregg Feistman will highlight how public relations professionals can navigate the perfect storm of political controversy, partisan media and global sustainability crisis facing today’s leaders in this engaging in-person event.


Heather LaMarre and Gregg Feistman have released a new book, “Raising Social Capital: Corporate Advocacy and Impact in a Time of Social Change.” The publication has been created utilizing expert advice from industry leaders and evidence-based research.

They will discuss:
-Comprehending and reducing risk in the volatile business landscape,
-Driving public engagement and building public trust,
-Managing employee activism and workplace incivility, and
-Balancing profit with purpose while maintaining an eye on the bottom line.

About Gregg Feistman
Gregg Feistman has more than 40 years of business and PR experience. As Professor of Practice in Public Relations, he specializes in public relations, CSR/corporate social advocacy and activism, reputation management, strategic communications planning, corporate sponsorship, crisis communications, media relations, consulting skills and organizational communication. Gregg’s research interests include the use of emerging technology in public relations education, and corporate social advocacy and activism. Gregg has conducted workshops on AI in PR, and been widely quoted in numerous consumer, business, and PR trade media. He has presented at a number of conferences, including the Public Relations Society of America’s international conference, The Institute for PR, and Association of Education in Journalism and Mass Communication conferences.


About Heather LaMarre
With over 20 years combined experience in public policy, communication, and leadership, Dr. Heather LaMarre's work applies behavioral science research to solving social issues. Dr. Lamarre's line of research examines how media and communication affect attitudes, policy, and social change. This work is primarily strategy-focused. Her second line of research applies these solutions-based strategies to urgent social problems. This work is management and leadership-focused. Dr. LaMarre works closely with purpose-driven organizations that foster social innovation and solve real-world challenges. This ranges from developing effective communication strategies to implementing leadership and management tools designed to drive positive change. Dr. LaMarre has also served as the academic and/or adminstrative director of multiple award-winning programs, including the Masters in Conflict and Communication Management, London Study Abroad and Undergraduate Internship and Practicum. From 2014-2019, LaMarre served as chair of the Klein College Faculty Council. She has completed two terms as a university faculty senate representative and one as the university graduate board representative from Klein.
