Why did you become a member of PRSA, and why PRSA Philly specifically? What made you take the next step to get involved?

I joined PRSA Philly to meet fellow communications professionals in the region, continue growing my skills, and give back to the communications community. I also wanted to play a role in supporting and advancing the public relations profession here in Philadelphia.

What PRSA Philly initiatives are you involved with and/or planning? What are the types of initiatives you most want to provide to our members?

I serve as Secretary of the PRSA Philly board and am also a member of the Programming Committee. I’m especially interested in creating opportunities for members to connect, exchange ideas, learn from one another, and collectively advance the PR profession.

 

What first drew you to a career in communications or PR?

In college, I took an introductory media course that spent one week covering public relations. I had always loved writing, and PR immediately felt like something I would enjoy. I changed my major, and that was that!

 

What drives you in your day job?

As Public Relations & Communications Manager at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, I’m driven by the opportunity to tell the stories of the communities we serve and spotlight the people and programs working to make a meaningful difference.

 

How does working in Philly shape your approach to communications?

Philadelphia has an incredible communications community. The city itself is filled with history, character, and stories waiting to be told. Philadelphians are passionate about their communities and the issues that matter to them, which makes authenticity and connection especially important in our work.

 

Do you have a mentor or someone who deeply influenced you?

My boss and mentor, Sin Gogolak, has had a tremendous impact on my career. She has taught me how to think more strategically and has helped me grow my skills and confidence as a professional. I have learned so much from her and am incredibly grateful for her guidance and support.

 

Outside of work, what are your hobbies?

Outside of work, I enjoy collecting records, making espresso at home, reading, and gardening. I’m also a big foodie and love trying new restaurants and food spots throughout the region. On the weekends, you can probably find me at the beach!
