What IS a Pepperpot?
Pepperpot Awards Comittee | Published on 7/11/2024
Are you wondering.... "what IS a Pepperpot?" Not only is it an award to honor achievements in public relations, but it is a long-standing Philadelphia tradition.
The PRSA reciprical judging program is a nationwide standard of excellence, but each regional chapter adds thier own touch. In 1968, Bill Parker, APR, who was then our chapter president and head of Campbell's Soup communications, named the Pepperpot awards in honor of Philadelphia's famous Pepperpot soup, which has roots in the Revolutionary War.
Parker suggested the name to conjure up excitement and good-humored intrigue, saying, "Like Philly's famous soup, we put everything we have into all of our public relations campaigns." The Pepperpot is now a coveted award, unique to the Philadelphia market!
