The PRSA Philadelphia APR Excellence Program

New Membership Benefit!
PRSA Philadelphia is pleased to announce that it will host the PRSA Philadelphia APR Excellence Program, an online, four-week Accredited in Public Relations (APR) preparation program, on Thursday evenings, from October 14, to November 4, 2021. All sessions will run from 6 to 8 p.m.

The PRSA Philadelphia APR Excellence Program is available to PRSA Philadelphia members free of charge as a membership benefit.

 The PRSA Philadelphia APR Excellence Program is being taught by APR members of our chapter. In addition, several of our chapter’s APRs are volunteering to serve as mentors to program participants as they go through the APR process, which entails a Readiness Review and a computer-based exam.

The PRSA Philadelphia APR Excellence Program schedule is:

  • Session 1, Thursday, October 14:
    Introduction/Overview of the APR Process and the KSAs
    Instructor: Jacob Farbman, APR, APR Chair
    Research. Planning, Implementation, Evaluation
    Instructor: Mike Gross, APR, President, AKCG
  • Session 2, Thursday, October 21:
    Ethics and Law
    Instructor: Jacob Farbman, APR, APR Chair
    Managing Issues / Crisis Communication
    Instructor: Stacey Hajdak, APR, Vice President, ADHQ
  • Session 3, Thursday, October 28:
    Leading the Public Relations Function & Managing Relationships
    Instructor: Marisa Sharkey, APR, Senior Manager, US Communications, Novo Nordisk
  • Session 4, Thursday, November 4:
    Preparing for the Readiness Review and Computer-based Exam
    Instructor: Kay Magdalena, APR, Joint Public Affairs Officer, Joint Enabling Capabilities Command

Upon completing the PRSA Philadelphia APR Excellence Program, participants will be well-positioned to formally apply to PRSA to go through the APR process and successfully earn the credential. The registration is for all four sessions.
