Professional sports is a big business. Last year, the pro sports industry in North America generated around $75 billion. Teams and players are regularly in the spotlight. However, sports franchises are much larger than just the players on the field. Behind the scenes of each team is a much larger operation. And like most large organizations, PR and marketing pros perform essential roles in publicity, media relations, crisis management, and much more.

Amanda Young Curtis
Director, PR & Communications
Delaware Blue Coats, Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications
Amanda Young Curtis is a veteran public relations professional with 12+ years of experience specializing in creating strategic, creative consumer campaigns for global sports, entertainment, and lifestyle brands. She joined the Philadelphia Union in 2019 as Team Publicist, focusing on off-field stories and media relations, and transitioned to oversee all team and business communications beginning in 2020.
Before joining the Union, Amanda spent nearly 10 years in the video game and consumer products space, securing top-tier national print, broadcast, and online coverage for her clients. Prior clients and projects include brands like Major League Soccer, Activision, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Nickelodeon, and more.
Alex Yoh began his tenure at Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE) in 2014. He spent his first two years as Public Relations Coordinator for the Philadelphia 76ers, and the last five as Sr. Director, Marketing & Communications for the Delaware Blue Coats, the Sixers NBA G League affiliate in Wilmington.
Prior to joining HBSE, Yoh spent two years at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he served as Basketball Communications Assistant, Women’s Basketball. He previously worked parts of four seasons in various multimedia and marketing roles with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Bradenton Marauders and Reading Fightin’ Phils.
Yoh began his career as a student journalist and broadcaster at Emerson College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. He later earned a master’s degree in Sports Leadership from Marquette.
Lauren Testa is a Communications Representative with the Phillies and works in conjunction with various departments to plan and promote off-field events and activities for the Phillies. She also oversees the “Step Up” minor league player community service program and supports the Phillies Charities Inc. grant process.
Prior to joining the Phillies communications department in May 2015, Lauren began her career as a corporate sales intern with the CURE Insurance Arena (formerly the Sun National Bank Center) and held a publicity internship with “The Rachael Ray Show.”
Lauren is a graduate of Rider University and holds a bachelor’s degree in communication with concentrations in public relations and film, TV and radio. She currently serves on the South Jersey Ski Club Board and Ski Committee as the Assistant Ski Director.
