Message From the President

Dear fellow PRSA members,

I am honored and humbled to serve as the 2018 Philadelphia PRSA chapter president. I can say without reservation that this society has helped me immeasurably throughout my career and my life.

PRSA has served as a compass for me in an ever-changing professional landscape. Change is the name of the game in public relations today, and we are here to help you navigate that change, stay current and learn to lead. In addition to our Code of Ethics, PRSA provides professional development support via its MBA programs, associate membership offerings and its prestigious Accreditation in Public Relations (APR).

Philadelphia PRSA members can be confident that our chapter and our board is stronger than ever. In line with many of our PRSA national objectives, we will support and encourage greater diversity & inclusion in our chapter culture, and access to professional development programming. As millennials surpass baby boomers as the largest segment of the workforce, and as technology changes how we communicate – PRSA will keep pace with our member needs.

Our 2018 slate of professional development and social programs are shaping up to be our best ever. These creative, interactive and educational programs will feature expert speakers, panelists and partnerships with PRSA professional sections. These programs will provide specific, usable knowledge that can be applied in your everyday work life.

As I learned early on by my mentors, the value I derive from PRSA is proportional to my active participation. Please consider ways you may wish to serve your chapter. Either by submitting ideas to our programming chair or by supporting any of our standing committees.

As always, I am here in the event you have questions, concerns or ideas. I welcome your interaction, feedback and support.

John F. Kouten
President, PRSA Philadelphia
