Crisis Panel: Protecting Your Brand’s Reputation Against Cyber Warfare
Data breaches, cyber-attacks, financial fraud, the black market—the cyber warfare tactics threatening your business operations are increasing daily. Is your communications team ready to put stakeholders at ease should one of these events occur? PRSA Philadelphia is bringing you three panelists who have navigated cyber incidents to share their best practices.

In a recent survey conducted by The Economist Intelligence Unit, global C-suite executives revealed their number one concern regarding cyber security-related events is negative impact to their companies’ reputations because it reflects a lack of preparation.

Cyber warfare tactics can impact any business at any time. Just one incident in which a company fails to protect its stakeholders can erase years of goodwill investment and fatally impact a business. The average cost per data breach in the U.S. rose to more than $7 million per event in 2016, with heavily regulated industries such as healthcare, life science and financial services facing even higher costs. Attackers behind such events show no mercy for companies in one industry over another.

How can public relations professionals prepare their communications arsenal for the front line to assist their organizations in planning for and effectively responding to these threats?

This panel will consist of experts from three crucial business areas—communications, information security and legal—who must come together to successfully prepare for and navigate through cyber-attacks to minimize impact to a company’s stakeholders and its reputation. Our panelists experienced firsthand such events and will share best—and worst—practices with attendees about cyber-security planning and how to cross organizational silos to benefit preparedness and response efforts.

Given the sensitivity of this topic and the high-profile case studies that will be discussed, and in an effort to promote an environment that enables our panelists to discuss their experiences and challenges freely with attendees, PRSA Philadelphia will not be live-posting content from this event.
